2019 Honour Our Veterans Banner Program
2019 Banner Submission Deadline August 31 - 2019 !
The Beaverton Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion with the support of the Township of Brock is pleased to announce the Honour Our Veterans Banner Program. This program has been designed to create a lasting legacy of remembrance within our community that will enable the town of Beaverton and its residents to pay tribute to all Canadian, Allied veterans and active service members.
This program is available to any member of the public wishing to honour a veteran. For each banner that is purchased a donation of $10.00 will be made to the “Leave The Streets Behind Program” which reaches out to homeless Veterans, or near homeless Veterans, by providing immediate financial assistance and support when and where needed.
The Executive and Members feel very strongly about this program but as we are not permitted to use Poppy Funds to underwrite the cost of these banners we hope the general public will understand that we are not able to cover the costs in order not to take away from our community and veterans support activities.
Honour our Veteran Banners will be displayed on lamp posts in Beaverton between Mid October and November 12 each year, as a means to pay tribute to our veterans and active service members. Through the display of the banners, we hope to engage the community in honouring and remembering our present and past armed forces members through an initiative that will ensure continued recognition and respect throughout future generations.
Each banner will be created to honour a specific service person with a connection to Beaverton. It will include their name, era served, branch of service, photograph and the name of the sponsor.
The Legion will provide sponsorship opportunities to all residents of Beaverton and surrounding area and is not limited to Legion members.
The Honour Our Veterans Banner Program will be funded through direct sponsorship of individual banners. The cost to sponsor a banner is $150.00. Application forms will be available for pick up at R.C.L. Branch 135 and will also be available online below.
Once completed, please bring the application form, along with a cheque made payable to: RCL Branch 135 – Honour Our Veterans, and a high resolution 5” x 7” portrait style photo of the service person in uniform to the Beaverton Legion Clubroom to the attention of Heather Hoover. All hard copies will be returned. Digital photos in .jpg or similar format of 300 dpi or better can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
The initial installation of banners was held in the downtown core in October 2016. New submissions will be accepted yearly, as we hope this will be an ongoing project that will no doubt grow over the next few years, as we honour all of our local veterans.
We are excited to share this initiative with you, and look forward to your participation.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Heather Hoover at (705) 341-3213 or email email@example.com
